CORE CPD UPDATE:
Radiography and Radiation Protection/Law & Ethics

DentEd is proud to announce our latest courses in association with Dentaid. All Dentists & DCPs (which includes Dental Nurses) are required to do 50 hours of verifiable CPD in a 5 year cycle. Two of the core subjects are Radiography & Radiation Protection and Law & Ethics. As stated by the GDC, this course fulfils the requirement of 5 hours verifiable CPD (in a 5 year cycle) in Radiography & Radiation Protection and provides verifiable CPD in Law & Ethics.

Andy Jong, BA (Hons), MBA (CHAIRPERSON)

Since joining Dentaid as CEO in August 2008, Andy Jong has brought his considerable experience in Charity Management and International development to the role. The charity’s success in taking redundant equipment, refurbishing it and then equipping oral health programmes around the world is now being expanded to take in other significant strategic objectives in order to meet Dentaid’s objective of; “improving the oral health of disadvantaged communities around the world”.


Tim Reynolds HDCR. TDCR

Tim was formerly Principal Tutor, course leader in Diagnostic Radiography at Keele University School of Radiography. On the Council of The College of Radiographers, 1986 to 1992, he chaired at different times the Professional and Technical and the Education committees of the College, Tim also served as Vice President of the College.

Tim was involved with many initiatives in the areas of Quality, Standards, Audit and Safety, including, collaboration with the NRPB, on the National Dosimetry Protocol, College Guidelines on QA systems and Professional Standards in Diagnostic Radiography. While serving as Vice Chair of the Education committee Tim was involved in the collaboration with the Dental Surgery Assistants Standards and Training Advisory Board on developing the first curriculum for Dental Radiography training.


Dr. Richard DeCann MSc. PhD. HDCR. TDCR. SRR.

Richard has over 30 years experience in clinical and academic radiography. He qualified as a radiographer in the Royal Navy, has a wide range of clinical experience and became a lecturer in 1980. His research into aspects of patient care are well published and his doctorate was awarded for his work on clinical competencies in radiography.

He was formerly a Principal Lecturer and the Director of postgraduate studies in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiography at the Department of Radiographic Studies, Keele University. He was the first editor of Radiography News, is a peer review editor for Radiography and former Chairman of the Midlands Branch of the Society and College of Radiographers. Richard is a specialist in general and dental radiography and has, for many years, been an authority on clinical care and radiographic research.
